In January 2013 Lee Connelly and his brother Dale founded Skinny Jean Gardeners and the pair quickly become an influential voice in horticulture. Together they began a mission to make gardening cool for a new generation and to 'inject fun and creativity into gardening and get children, teens and students doing it’.

In 2017 Lee continued this gardening adventure as the Skinny Jean Gardener touring the country with his fun and unique family focused shows, and has launched a brand new weekly gardening podcast (Weekend Tea Break).

As well as the garden podcast and weekly YouTube uploads, Skinny Jean Gardener has contributed to CBBC’s Blue Peter and BBC Radio 1, regular guest to Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, created a kitchen garden for TV presenter Jimmy Doherty, built a garden taxi for Kew Gardens Grow Wild Project, designed a garden for the International Gardening World Cup in Japan and are ambassadors of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.
